A marine survey is a highly technical unbiased evaluation to
determine fair market value, insurability and the level of future
satisfaction with your own cruising experiences. Unlike a simpler
“checklist” style, these surveys are in a narrative format which
usually includes about ten pages of observations, opinions and
recommendations. Casey inspects the boat through the eyes of a boat
builder and cruising sailor with many years of experience. He is
also able to offer suggestions as to the boat’s suitability to your
personal plans and lifestyle.
Survey costs: $13 per foot for insurance surveys; $15 per foot for
a pre-purchase survey. A "pre-offer" survey is a good choice if the
owner is not here to inspect the boat personally. This involves only
four hours (at $25 per hour) including the initial consultation.
Casey is a certified marine surveyor affiliated with The United
States Surveyor's Association.
Casey is nearing completion of a 27’ ultra-light fast launch of
wood and epoxy construction designed by Phil Bolger. The Lorena is
an elegant reproduction of a retro 1930’s “Lake Tahoe” style speed
boat. With a 25-horsepower outboard she will speed downriver at
25mph – only 15 minutes to town. Lorena will be an attention-getting addition to any dock on the
Rio, and will be available for sale in early 2009. Next
project on the drawing board is a 10’ nesting dinghy.
In the Rio Dulce, Casey
offers the finest quality craftsmanship, with the highest quality
tools, at a fraction of the cost of an ordinary boatyard in America.
A re-fit of your boat can include hull and deck repair, custom interior joinery,
rigging work, repair and installation of marine-quality systems,
bright work & painting, and many other improvements to optimize your
efficiency and comfort.
Reliable and dependable personal service, specializing in yacht delivery to and
from the Rio Dulce. Have your sailboat thoroughly checked for
seaworthiness, then prepared for the passage across the Gulf of
Mexico and down the Yucatan Channel, past the coral Cays of Belize

and immigration inspections. Expect realistic
competitive delivery prices to include required upgrades and normal
expenses for the distance traveled: less than 1000 miles from most
points in the Gulf of Mexico and South Florida. The Rio
Dulce is 340 miles south of Cancun/Cozumel and 650 miles from Key
West. U.S. Coast Guard certified Captain

your newly re-fit yacht in the peaceful wooded environs of Cayo
Quemado Bay, about 8 miles up-river from the NW Caribbean in clean,
clear fresh water. Enjoy fabulous
year-round tropical cruising on Lake Izabal, the bustling “yachtie
central” global community in Rio Dulce/ Fronteras, or the
breath-taking “Gorge” toward Livingston and the sea.
